Ex-police chief Brian has one thing on his mind in the jungle: fun. “I get asked to do very serious programmes,” he says. “I’m thinking once I’ve done this I probably won’t get asked to do any of those things any more and that’ll be great.” Brian’s hoping the show will change the public’s perception of him. “I’m not just a serious politician and a serious former police officer,” he says.

He does admit there’ll be tears in camp. “When people get upset I tend to join in,” says Brian. “I don’t know what it is about me, whether I was dropped on my head as a baby or something, but I’ve got this thing about caring for other people.”

Brian's luxury item is hair wax.
