The former chat show host has got a surprise in store for Ant and Dec this year: he plans to make sure they get a taste of any Bushtucker Trial he has to endure.

But Ant and Dec won’t be the only people squirming. “Every member of my family is full of apprehension about me going into the jungle because they think I’m going to be a nightmare and screw up in some way,” says Robert. “They’re dreading it.”

But why? Robert thinks he knows the answer. “My most irritating habit is wanting things done properly all the time. Or as my wife Jan says, ‘Being a control freak’. Clearly I have very strong opinions and other people will have too, but I don’t see the jungle as being the place where they should be aired.” Just wait until he’s been on the rice and beans for a week…
